Player and Virtus.pro ambassador Artem "Fng" Barshak spoke about the current state of Dota 2. He shared his thoughts on air during a breakdown of the professional scene.
According to Barshak, without pressure from the main competitor, the game would have developed noticeably slower.
Artem "Fng" Barshakon airIf Dota 2 had no competition from League of Legends, the game would simply stagnate.
The topic was picked up by streamer Alexander "Nix" Levin, who spoke more harshly and noted that many tournaments have become uninteresting to watch due to the monotonous meta with Razor, Viper, and Huskar at the top of priorities. The average online for Dota 2 in recent years has remained in the range of 430–470 thousand players per day, and peak viewership at major tournaments still exceeds 700 thousand viewers, but audience growth has effectively stalled.
