The tournament operator PGL faced sharp criticism after announcing the location for the spring CS2 tournament in 2027. The manager of the British esports organization Nemesis expressed bewilderment at the choice of the Polish city of Lodz, citing several compelling reasons why this championship could turn out to be a failure in terms of attendance.
According to the representative of Nemesis, the organizers completely disregarded the logistical and cultural peculiarities of the region when planning the tournament schedule. In his social media, he published an emotional post questioning the competence of those responsible.
Did they even conduct any research before making the choice? Foreigners won't be able to fly into the city, and locals will be spending time with their families during those days. I expect the crowd at the tournament to be "crappy."
The manager highlighted three main problems with the upcoming PGL Lodz 2027:
- Transport accessibility. Lodz has almost zero international air connections, making travel for foreign fans and teams an extremely challenging task.
- City reputation. According to the author of the post, Lodz consistently ranks among the most dangerous and visually unappealing cities in Poland.
- Date overlap. The tournament will take place from March 18 to 28, 2027, which directly coincides with the celebration of Catholic Easter. Given the high religiosity of the Polish population, most locals will prefer to spend this weekend with their families rather than in the stands of the arena.
Let us remind you that the spring tournament from PGL in Lodz is scheduled for March 2027. The organizers have not yet commented on the criticism from the community regarding such a controversial choice of location and dates.
Earlier, it became known that Team Spirit entered the top 3 teams by prize money earned in 2026 after winning PGL Astana 2026.
