Team Falcons and FURIA became the finalists of IEM Cologne Major 2026. In the semifinals of the playoffs on June 20, Falcons defeated Team Spirit, while FURIA overcame Aurora Gaming.
In one matchup, Team Falcons triumphed over Team Spirit in a three-map series – 16:14 on Anubis, 8:13 on Mirage, and 16:12 on Dust2. Two of the maps went into overtime. For Falcons, this is the first time in the organization's history that they have reached the grand final of a major.
In the second matchup, FURIA confidently defeated Aurora Gaming with a score of 2:0 (13:9 on Dust2, 13:4 on Nuke). The Brazilian club has reached the major final for the first time in its history – the previous achievement of this roster was a semifinal appearance at the tournament in Rio in 2022.
An additional intrigue of the decisive match is related to Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo. The 35-year-old Brazilian will play in a major final for the first time in ten years – the last time he reached the decisive stage was in 2016 when he won ESL One Cologne with SK. FalleN plans to retire by the end of the year.
The grand final between Team Falcons and FURIA will take place on June 21 at 18:00 Moscow time at the LANXESS arena in Cologne. The series will be in a best-of-5 format. The winner will receive 500,000, while the finalist will get 170,000.
