Team Falcons became the champion of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 in CS2. In the grand final on June 21, the "falcons" defeated the Brazilian FURIA with a score of 3:0.
All three maps went in the same vein – 13:8 on Mirage, 13:8 on Anubis, and 13:8 on Inferno. Already on the starting Mirage, Falcons led 8:0 on the defense side and did not allow the opponent to return to the series.
For Team Falcons, this is the first major title in the organization's history. The championship also ended Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's long chase for the main trophy – the Bosnian rifler was pursuing it through 17 majors. On the way to Cologne, the "falcons" defeated G2, Monte, Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, Team Spirit, and FURIA.
The most valuable player of the tournament was recognized as Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov: on Mirage and Anubis, the Russian had a rating of 1.80. In the final itself, NiKo showed the best statistics – 52 kills with a rating of 1.43. Another key player of the playoffs was 18-year-old Russian Maxim "kyousuke" Lukin.
For their victory, Team Falcons received 500,000, FURIA as the finalist – 170,000, and Team Spirit for 3-4 place – $80,000. The coach of the "falcons," Danny "zonic" Sørensen, became the first six-time major champion in history.
