On the night of May 14 to 15, 2026, Valve released another update for the shooter Counter-Strike 2, approximately 385 MB in size. The patch did not introduce global innovations, but it fixed a number of important bugs on the Cache map, improved stability, and added new details to the music sets.
Changes to the Cache map
After the return of Cache to CS2, the developers continue to actively refine the location to an optimal state. In the fresh patch, the authors closed problematic areas and adjusted surface properties:
- fixed various holes on the map;
- fixed surface types for different materials;
- added grates to some windows to block line of sight;
- made adjustments to the display of players and grenades.
Fixes for grenade bugs and stability improvements
Valve also paid attention to grenade mechanics and overall game stability. One of the changes directly affects gameplay:
- fixed a bug that allowed the cancellation of a grenade throw closer to the end of the pull animation;
- added various stability improvements.
At the same time, players note that some issues with grenades on Cache are still relevant. For example, when trying to throw a grenade into the ventilation, it may bounce off an invisible texture.
Tools and reporting system
Separate fixes were made to CS2 tools related to resource management and layered materials:
- fixed a bug where the used resource was not selected when opening the model browser;
- fixed a bug with layered materials that had the same surface properties across all layers.
Additionally, data miners discovered lines in the game files mentioning a new bug report submission system. According to leaks, such a report will automatically include command line parameters, the autoexec file, player system specifications, game build number, operating system version, and console logs.
Update of music sets
The NIGHTMODE II music sets, which appeared in CS2 earlier, received a small technical update. For all sets in the collection, the developers added the parameter
roundmvpanthem_02. This is an additional version of the victory track (MVP), which will be played with a one in five chance, meaning significantly less often than the main composition.Earlier, it became known that the developers released a brief list of changes, outlining the main innovations of the patch from May 15.
