On the night of July 20-21, 2026, a new small update was released in Counter-Strike 2. Valve has tweaked the new bomb damage system in CS2, slightly modified the added bomb damage indicator, and changed the interaction of the explosion from C4 with Smokey and Molotov: now the wave dispels smoke and extinguishes fire. Improvement of the C4 explosion indicator and wave interaction with smoke and fire
With the new patch, the developers have improved the bomb damage indicator, as well as changed the interaction of the added C4 blast wave with various utilities, including Smokey and fire.:
- The preliminary bomb damage indicator now appears at the moment when the player starts to hear the ticking of C4;
- the explosion of the bomb interacts with clouds of smoke from smokes and with fire from Molotov and an incendiary grenade.
Previously, the HP prompt could pop up too early and, in fact, suggested where the bomb was. Now, the bar appears only after the player begins to hear the ticking of the bomb. The second change continues the new physics of the blast wave: the post-film ceases to be a wall of smoke and fire after a bomb explosion.
Changes and improvements to community maps
Community maps from the July rotation have been updated to the latest versions from Steam Workshop:
- Fachwerk.
- Boulder.
- Debris.
As a reminder, the maps mentioned above were added with the fifth Premier season.
Other changes
In addition, for Counter-Strike on Steam China, the "Play" menu has been added:
- Workshop maps section;
- quick access to the list of user servers.
As a result, the new patch is not that big, but thanks to it, the bomb damage system has become more accurate in information and more lively in interacting with grenades. If you play Premier or often sit in post-plans, these edits will be quite noticeable to you. Note that the total weight of the update was 1.5 gigabytes. Stay tuned and follow our news.*
