On June 30, ESL announced the addition of Cache to all competitions in the ESL Pro Tour lineup. This change aligns with Valve's decision to remove Overpass from the Active Duty pool in the new season. The first tournament with the updated map pool will be the European ESL Challenger League Season 52 (July 12-14). Before that, Cache will debut at the Tier-1 level on July 1 as part of the XSE Pro League.
The last days of June were marked by a mass transition to the new map. BLAST had previously confirmed the addition of Cache to most of its events; Valve added the map to Active Duty, removing Overpass. Now ESL has joined them. Thus, all three major organizers of competitive CS2 are synchronously transitioning to Cache.
Overpass spent just over a year in Active Duty — a short time for such a renowned map. Cache, on the other hand, has repeatedly proven its competitive viability in CS:GO and has returned updated. Professional teams are already training on it — the first official Tier-1 matches will show how ready it is for the highest level of competition.
