Previously, C4 dealt the same damage within a fixed radius, regardless of obstacles. Now a shockwave emanates from the launch point, and its parameters are calculated in advance and “baked” into the geometry of each official map. Corners, walls and buildings block or weaken the wave - the specific position of the player now directly affects the damage received. Practical consequence: some positions near the edge of the site, which were previously guaranteed to kill in an explosion, now provide a chance to survive. On Inferno and Nuke, points with minimal damage have already been discovered in buildings near bombsites. Valve also added an indicator - before the explosion, the player can see how much health he will lose. This is one of the most significant gameplay changes in recent times: save tactics, positioning when the bomb is active and timing will all require revision on most active maps.
