In the first hours after the launch of Dark Carnival in Dota 2, serious matchmaking failures began. The cause was a bug with the interactive event item – the carnival pie.
When thrown or activated in a match, the Source 2 engine produced a rendering error for the cream splash animation. After that, the server would immediately crash, and all ten players would be kicked out of the game.
Valve fixed the issue a few hours after the onset of widespread problems.
Let us remind you, Dark Carnival is one of the largest summer events in Dota 2 in 2026. It features automaton personas for Oracle, Bristleback, Legion Commander, and Morphling, as well as the Treasure of Wonders treasure trove. The second and third acts are scheduled for the coming weeks.
