Team Falcons won against Team Spirit with a score of 2:1 in the second semifinal of IEM Cologne Major 2026 and advanced to the grand final of the tournament. The match took place on June 20 at the LANXESS arena in Cologne.
The series lasted three maps. The teams exchanged victories on Anubis and Mirage, while the outcome of the confrontation was decided on Dust2, where the Falcons proved to be stronger. The winners were led by Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, while Daniil "donk" Kryshkovets and Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov were unable to pull Spirit through to the second half of the bracket.
The result marked a turnaround in the head-to-head confrontation between the teams. In recent matches, the advantage was on Team Spirit's side: the team defeated Falcons with a score of 2:0 at IEM Rio 2026 and triumphed at the final stage of PGL Astana 2026. At the major in Cologne, Falcons broke this streak and left Spirit without a victory for the first time in a long while.
For Team Spirit, the tournament ended at the semifinal stage. Prior to this, the team won Stage 3 without any losses in the series and defeated G2 Esports (2:1) in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
The grand final of IEM Cologne Major 2026 will take place on June 21 at 18:00 Moscow time in a best-of-5 format. Team Falcons will face FURIA, and the teams will compete for a share of the prize pool of $1.25 million.
